Originality and particularities
The Madeleine’s Triathlon is an event co-organised by the Tourism Office of Saint-François-Longchamp summer / winter resort, and the sports event organisation Idée Alpe until 2015.
Absolutely difficult, the Madeleine’s Triathlon proudly claims to be the most mountainous triathlon in France for the S, M and XL Distances!
Indeed, after the swimming courses at the Saint-Rémy-de-Maurienne’s lake, the cycling courses of these two races present some really amazing differences in altitude for these distances:
- 1200m of D+ on the only 20km long S Size Bike course, in only 20km, with 1 climb
- 2200m of D+ on the 53km long M Size Bike Course, with 2 climbs
- 3400m of D+ on the 100km long L Size Bike Course, with 4 climbs

Mythical roads and passes…
The M Size Bike course will take you up the famous Lacets de Montvernier (used by the Tour de France in 2015 and 2018, and the Etape du Tour in 2015), and continues the climb to the Chaussy Pass (1533m) / Espace Nordique du Grand Coin.
After the descent of the Chaussy Pass for the M Size riders, the two courses meet at Notre-Dame-du-Cruet to take on the terrible Montgellafrey climb, discovered by the Tour de France in 2020, which will take them to the Saint François Longchamp ski resort and also used by Distance S cyclists!

In the valley of Maurienne…
The Distance L bike course will also use the famous Lacets de Montvernier before descending to Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne to climb the Col de la Croix de Fer (2064m). The Col de la Croix de Fer is one of the Tour de France’s most legendary passes, having been climbed for the 21st time in 2022. To do this, it will cross the communes of Saint-Jean-d’Arves and Saint-Sorlin-d’Arves. The descent into the Maurienne valley is done over the Col du Glandon (1924m) to reach Notre-Dame-du-Cruet and finish the climb with the Distances S & M cyclists on the painful climb to Montgellafrey.

So that everyone can enjoy it…
The running courses take place in the heart of the village, so that accompanying persons can follow and encourage their champions!
Beside these two races, a free animathlon will be proposed to the children, in the form of an aquathlon: a swimming and running sequence, with distances adapted to the age categories. See you on Friday evening at the municipal swimming pool of Saint-François-Longchamp.
