Absolutely difficult, the Madeleine’s Triathlon proudly claims to be the most mountainous triathlon in France for the S and M Distances!
Indeed, after the swimming courses at the Saint-Rémy-de-Maurienne’s lake, the cycling courses of these two races present some really amazing differences in altitude for these distances:
- 1200m of D+ on the S Size Bike course, in only 20km, with 1 climb
- 2200m of D+ on the 53km long M Size Bike Course, with 2 climbs
The Lacets de Montvernier
The M Size Bike course will take you up the famous Lacets de Montvernier (used by the Tour de France in 2015 and 2018, and the Etape du Tour in 2015), and continues the climb to the Chaussy Pass (1533m) / Espace Nordique du Grand Coin.
After the descent of the Chaussy Pass for the M Size riders, the two courses meet at Notre-Dame-du-Cruet to take on the terrible Montgellafrey climb, discovered by the Tour de France in 2020, which will take them to the Saint François Longchamp ski resort!
The running courses take place in the heart of the village, so that accompanying persons can follow and encourage their champions!
Beside these two races, a free animathlon will be proposed to the children, in the form of an aquathlon: a swimming and running sequence, with distances adapted to the age categories. See you on Friday evening at the municipal swimming pool of Saint-François-Longchamp.
