XL distance becoming L distance
The course for the long-distance format of the Madeleine Triathlon will undergo a slight change in 2024!
While the vast majority of the original route will be maintained, including the Montvernier hairpin bends, the Croix de Fer and Glandon passes and the ascent of Montgellafrey, this will not be the case for the Col du Mollard, which will no longer be used in future.
The cycling route has therefore been extended to 100 km and 3400 m of ascent. This is the route that was used in 2023, when the course was changed because of the hot weather.
To better reflect the official FFTri distances, the event is now called L-3400. Nevertheless, given the difference in altitude on the bike and run sections, the average race time will be much longer than in traditional L events.
